SSD in a Mac Pro

What are my options?

Could see anything on the Apple UK Store.

Not a great deal of options are far as I know. There is a company that does an SSD/Velociraptor sled for the 2008 and 2009 Mac Pro (they are slightly different).

I've been looking at getting one but as the company is American, I'm not really willing to hand over my credit card details. If I could do it over PayPal or something, I would have ordered right away.

I think Feek is running an SSD in his Mac Pro - I think he has screwed down one side to the original slider and sewn the other side up with elastic bands but I'll let him comment on that, I may have just made that all up.

Im running the new Intel 80GB as my boot/apps drive.

Apps open on one bounce and the OS loads a lot faster than my orginal WD 640 Blue

Can't any SSD run in a Macbook or does it have to be a specific type? I'm considering one but not sure which one to get.

The Corsair P128 kicks ass in a Macbook, and is reasonable money for 128Gb.

Get it in Feek! Well worth it! My MP runs like a dream now, can open 10+ apps at once and they're open within 1 bounce, stupidly quick compared to what it was like last week!

Ah boo! Thought you had the drive already! I managed to find stock for £116 delivered and £20 for Icy Dock! Expensive but I had the spare cash and definitely worth it now I've got it!

Just a shame I've got a mini in work, everything seems so sluggish compared to this machine

The Intel? That's a good price depending on size. I'm going to get the 80Gb version which will be more than enough for OS and applications. It'll probably be in a couple of weeks after payday.

Ah no I've got the Crucial 64GB. Not as fast as the Intel but definitely worth the money I think!

I'm trying to keep the drive just for OS and apps and moved my Downloads/Virtual Machines to another drive. Currently used 16GB/64GB and thats with all the usual apps I need so space shouldn't be an issue atleast!
