I am having an issue with my new Gigabyte P34 laptop I bought from OCUK where the SSD will sometimes vanish from the BIOS for a prolonged period of time leaving me unable to boot, the secondary hard drive is always present in the SATA drive listings though. Then at a seemingly random point in time the drive shows up again and the laptop will boot again.

Can anyone help me solve this issue please?

No updates for the BIOS, cannot determine what SSD is in the laptop because there is no specification provided with it.

I'm not too clued up on laptops, especially Gigabyte ones.. But can you not remove the HDD/SSD cover and see what make it is?

Or when it does work, Computer -> Right click the drive -> Properties - surely should show the model there?

There is only one cover and that's for the RAM.

I'm sure the model will show there, as you say though, when it works. :p

OCUK are arranging an RMA and it looks like that's the way it's going to end up. Certainly will be avoiding Gigabyte products in the future though if they are sending out products with dodgy SSD's, nevermind the absurdity of a built in battery, no covers for hard drives, and even supplying DVD's with a laptop that has no DVD drive... idiots.
