i have read that you can DL a program to control fan speed after fitting an ssd.

any problems anyone encountered and any suggestion for which program to use.
thanks

It's called something like cpufanspeed I think. However, I'd rather let the system do it automatically. When I upgraded the HDD in my 2011 iMac, I bought a module from OWC which allows the OS to control the fan speed like it's supposed to.

Why don't you leave the HDD in situ and fit the SSD as a second drive. It sits behind the DVD drive. Put your OS and apps on the SSD and stuff like media etc. onto the HDD.

DVD interface on the 2011 iMac is only SATA 2, not SATA 3, so it's slower.

On mine it was anyway.
