I have an older laptop with a t5500 intel core 2 duo processor 1.7 ghz and g950 chipset. Looking at the specs this had only sata 1.

Does anyone know of I can drop an SSD into this machine and expect it to work efficiently or even work at all?

I'm guessing the speeds would still be reasonable on sata 1?

Currently it has a 120gb hdd. If it can run an SSD which one would bw recommended?

Thanks

I have a Compaq F500 (Athlon tk-53, GeForce Go 6100) and that has an OCZ agility in it now, I didn't do anything special to prep it.

You will notice a performance boost over mechanical, even on sata1.
Makes a world of difference to startup time, and how quickly apps run on this ancient sata1 Macbook.

Hey GeX,

I have a samsung 830 128gig sata III ssd...trying to jam it in my compaq F500. Managed to just about get Win7 installed on it but get grief every boot if I don't goto the boot device choice menu. If I don't I get an error message.

Did you encounter anything like this along the way? Seems almost nothing in the bios in terms of AHCI options. Did you change anything in the bios?

Cheers,
Ste
