Hello,

Recently changed to intel and got a z87-K mobo and I installed win 8.1 onto my 60gb ssd via usb boot, no problems all fine, restart the pc windows says no bootable device press ctr alt del to restart, this circles on for ages untill I put my usb stick in again to reinstall windows it aappeared in bios again and booted into windows, tested this by shutting down and removing usb and then its stuck

Have changed bios settings and only happens when usb isn't plugged in and other hdds are plugged in

Thanks for any help

I managed to do this as well, think i fixed it by getting another USB stick and making a bootable windows on it and installing a clean copy from that one.

The OCZ Vertex 2 uses the Sandforce SF1222 controller, which doesn't work with Intel Z87 chipset. I had the same problem, SSD appearing an disappearing in BIOS (although I didn't notice if this was linked to having a USB stock plugged in or not).

As I understand it you have a couple of options:
1. Change your SSD (I chose this one)
2. Connect your SSD to a non-Intel SATA port (if you have them)

/edit Looking at the manual for your motherboard all the SATA ports are controlled from the Intel Z87 chipset, so you need to look at option 1 I'm afraid.
