SSD issue

Hi guys I recently installed another SSD drive.
Since putting it into my system the system will not boot and comes up with the windows boot manager error claiming that the boot selection failed because The required device is inaccessible and wants me to install windows again!

As things stand Windows 10 is currently installed on a 120 GB SSD.
I also have a SATA HD installed although it’s blank.

Upon disconnecting the SATA drive, plugging in the new SSD I get the above error.

Now this is weird because windows isn’t on the SATA drive - it’s on the SSD.

Someone said the boot files may be spread across the SATA drive so I copied them to the SSD but still it wont work.

Any ideas?

Just saying the ssd could also be a SATA drive.

So now you have 2 ssd's and a HD?

What happens when you disconnect the new ssd and load setup defaults in bios?

It looks like the boot device has been changed so try loading setup defaults in bios.

Sorry guys could you be a bit clearer as to what you are suggesting?

And perhaps give me some steps to take

As mentioned above it might be changing the boot device to the new SSD. Try going into the bios when the pc boots up and make sure that the 120GB SSD is still the primary boot device.

Glad you got it sorted.

Strangely I also had to disconnect my CD drive entirely / to be fair I’ve not used it in years but it’s odd that it caused such a conflict.

Only problem that I have now is that my CPU is only showing a maximum overclock to 3.9 GHz when every setting in the bios is set to 4.7 - it’s a 2700k and up until I installed this SSD with associated shut downs and bios resets, it all worked fine.

CPU-z reports it as multiplier x39 which it isn’t set to in the bios. It’s set to 47. Ram at 1600mhz and the turbo feature off - along with all thermal throttling. Max temp it’s hitting under load osbjust 46 degrees so it’s not throttling at all - im baffled.

I’ve taken the advice of many others on tomshardware and disconnected the cmos battery and am leaving it for several hours to force it all back to a stock state and will start again.

Any tips would be very welcome
