Hello all,

I'm thinking about buying the MSI GT683DX laptop, but I would like to strip out the two HDD Raid config and replace it with a small SDD for Windows and a larger SDD for games, Is this possible I've never owed a laptop if this can be done is it just as easy as doing it on a desktop IE take one out put the new one in install windows then off you go or is there more to it with a laptop?

Many thanks

It is, but you can keep one of the 750GB drives for the bigger storage and replace the other with a SSD for the OS and a few programs/games. Infact one of the drive options for this laptop is a 120GB SSD+750HDD

http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT683DX.html#/?div=Specification
750GB (4K sector) *2
750GB SATA 7200rpm *2
500GB SATA 7200/5400rpm*2
320GB SATA 5400rpm*2
120GB SSD + 750GB SATA
120GB SSD + 500GB SATA
750GB (4K sector)
750GB SATA 7200rpm
500GB SATA 7200/5400rpm

Isnt it just easier, maybe cheaper to get one with the SSD fitted already?

That would save me a lot of hassle, now I just gotta find a place that's selling it with the SSD and HDD. :S
