ssd to sata
currently have w7 on my ssd drive

looking to image the drive to my old sata 3.5" drive

can this be done easily? as the ssd has the 2 partitions installed as standard with a ssd

thanks

Why don't you clone the drive using Acronis.;) See HERE it works for Seagate as well.

hi, have acronis, will this do it then? as i thought with the 2 partitions on the ssd i might have trouble imaging the drive

It will clone the whole drive, ie, bring the 2 partitions over to your new drive.

This would concern me as I take regular images of my SSD in case something should ever go wrong with it, so this means I would be unable to restore the image to a normal HDD should it ever fail. Must be some way around this

I want to do the exact opposite, win 7 from my sata 2 hdd to my new sata 3 ssd. Possible?

Yeah that's easy enough to do although most peeps will advise a clean install is the best way. Have a look at Paragon Migrate OS to SSD which is excellent and handles the partition alignment for you too.

That looks simple enough,I have a lot of games installed on my D drive that i'll have to repair if I do a clean install so thats not really an option
