Hi
I am thinking of getting new boot drive and it's a choice between
1 SSD 64gb drive or 2 x 80gb Velociraptors in RAID 0.
SSD is around 75 quid and the raptors are 80 for the pair. What do ya reckon?

Cheers

SSD all the way. Pretty sure the 80Gb would be a standard raptor, and even the vr are showing their age. What SSD are you looking at?

Sequential read throughput — 64 GB — 250 MB/s read
Sequential write throughput —64 GB – 145 MB/s write

Already faster than the VR. Coupled with the near zero seek times makes everything snappier and appear faster than they are. I have a Corsair Reactor and its far far better than the 300Gb VR I had in there (Bought it new when SSD's were a lot more expensive).
