SSD Wipe/Format

I have recently bought the Samsung 850 EVO and my mate wants my old Samsung 840, should I just format it or use a software to wipe/nuke it?

I recommend the above tool to completely zero your HDD/SSDs. Data will be completely unrecoverable after using that.
It's a free tool, with paid upgrades, you'll be limited to 50MB/s using the free version.
So leave it running overnight and you should be golden!

Or use the Samsung utility built into the Samsung Magician software

Or "Format {volume letter} /p:1" in command prompt to zero the drive and then do one pass filling it with random data.

If you had sensitive info on it the best option is to use the manufacturer tools. Failing that look into doing an ATA Secure Erase.

Otherwise I'd just delete the partition table tbh.
