SSD's- worth getting now?

Hi all- do you think SSD is the path to go now- I like the idea but think the capacity is still pants

I planned to wait but I get my bonus next month- and my main rig I only use for gaming anyway

You have answered your own question.

Yes as an OS boot drive ... esp good for laptops where the 2.5 inch performance of a spindle drive is weak.

No for mass storage. You would be insane to provision Terrabytes of SSD for movies etc.

people ususaly have a SSD they stick there game/os on and a 1tb for music and pictures

SSD for OS and the main games you play. 1tb as a movies/apps HDD.

Id go for an SSD, OCUK have some great ones now

lol wow and eve,


eve uses at most 800mb of memory and its cache is always on the os drive.

wow doesnt really have any loading screens or long loading times anyway.

I meant for space mate- after I put os, apps and then some games it will have used a lot of space

Not really, my gaming PC has a 300GB VelociRaptor with tons of games and I'm not even close to 100GB used Spose it depends what games you use, but I've got GTA and MW2 installed amongst other things!

I was thinking of getting an SSD for some games. Maybe 64GB or something.... hmmmm

For the Op, I have an SSD for windows. 32GB. Good spend
