Hi,

I need to get an SSL certificate for a system at work.

Can anyone recommend an issuer. Its not a big commercial system, so ~£800 per year for verisign one is a bit ridiculous.

Go daddy where fairly cheap and widely supported as a Certificate authority, and if you google a bit you can trackdown discount codes. There are free alternatives (like http://www.cacert.org/), but the CA certificates are not as widely pre-installed.

We used Comodo. Pretty good, lost my key at one point and they reissued the cert pretty nippy.

Goddady were cheap and easy last time I used them but not single root, dunno if they are now.
Last ones I got were from namecheap.com - a RapidSSL reseller. Issued my wildcard certs in a few minutes, cheap, no hassles. Their website is a pleasure to use compared to Godaddy's advert-fest, too.
