Hi there

I'm installing some software that requires a cert for the internal communication from client > server.

An SSL cert seems to be required and it needs to contain the FQDN of pool that it uses. I have added the required SRV/DNS records for it but I am unable to start the services until the SSL cert is in place.

How do I go about getting an Internal SSL cert working with this?
I'm not sure if I can use self signed ones, hopefully I can.

Either way, I'm not sure how to create a self signed cert that has my internal name such as pool.domain.local

Whats the normal way of doing this?
Must I go to a CA and purchase one? If so, where's the cheapest?

Is this for Office Communicator? You can install your own CA for internal use and generate the certificates required. To prevent the certificate errors from been displayed on machines outside of your network/domain (if you need it) you can installed your root CA certificate on those machines.

Yep,

You are correct, office communications server it is.
It was a pain in the ass until just a few minutes ago.
Finally found the place in IIS where I could create a self cert for this very task.
Worked a treat!
However, when trying to use the web access to sign in, the server asking for a certificate in a window labelled:

Choose a digital certificate:
Identification
The website you want to view requests identification.
Please choose a certificate.

However, there are no certificates to select.
Any ideas?
