Just been round to help my aunt with her PC. It's quite old, Windows 98, Internet Explorer 5.00 etc..
She's trying to buy stuff off Amazon, but when she tries to checkout she gets:
I checked in IE settings that SSL 3 / TLS v1 was activated (it was). I cleared all the cookies and restarted; still no luck. Because it's Win98 i'm not if I can upgrade the browser.
I'm guessing it needs IE6 or something newer in order support some fancy encryption. So any ideas? Ta
She's trying to buy stuff off Amazon, but when she tries to checkout she gets:
SSL Alert
The browser and the web-site cannot communicate securely because there are no common encryption algorithms.
Please try the following:
- Check SSL protocol settings on the browser for SSL v3 / TLS v1 protocol support
- The secure web-site may be using high-strength encryption algorithms (128 bit). Check the SSL settings on your browser, if it supports high-strength encryption algorithms
- Upgrade your browser to latest version
