Mods, please don't merge with the existing discovery thread as I haven't watched it all yet and it's littered with spoilers.

Has anyone else noticed the weird color shift at around the 9/10 minute mark. It's when the CO goes into the captains quarters, the colour is really washed out. Then suddenly it shifts and all the contrast increases and there it looks more natural. The biggest change is in their faces, they look really pale then after it shifts, they look normal.

I rewinded a few times and checked again this morning and it does the same thing so it wasn't a streaming issue.

This is on netflix btw.

Yeah noticed it a few times. Really makes it feel like a high quality production. It does the same thing when panning over the desert at the start.

I certainly noticed a lot of artifacting in the colours on Netflix, like it was a fairly heavily compressed stream. Maybe because so many people were all trying to access it? Or maybe it was my TV not playing properly with the HDR?

I watched the CBS live version and the intro was basically clean white with drawings, I watched a different version er cough anyhow its intro was full of overblown red and whites in the background. I too noticed a shift or sorts when she went into captains room. I did not see this on the original live version from CBS channel.

Dunno if CBS had a good copy and Netflix had a dodgy copy or something.

they dun ****** it up

Watching on netflix mine changed twice. Both within first 5 minutes. The opening scene on the red planet and in the captains office.

I'm surprised as that was REALLY obvious on my screen. It was just one of the issues that made the show feel a bit amateurish in my opinion. Throughout, they just seemed to be mashing the Prime & Kelvin universes together and whilst the Federation ships were all recognisably so, the Klingon ships could have been from any generic space show. My main issue was with T'Kuvma's teeth though. They were so obviously giving the actor issues all I could think of my Dwayne Dibbly in Red Dwarf. :D

In the desert part it was at 1:35 in and only for a couple of seconds. It's an odd one for sure, I noticed this when I watched it actually on netflix last night, I.... obtained an alternative to check if it was just weird connection or what. It's in said version as well, today while looking on netflix the colour change is gone. The second time is in the office at 9:07, though here it looks like the colour shifted back to the colour it was supposed to be and the colour that matches Netflix I'm seeing today.

I think at some point during the intro credits the colour shifts to being too light then the entire first scene on the bridge is washed out till that point in the office then it's back.

It looks like whoever captured it off Netflix or CBS did so when the colour seemed off and presumably it's been fixed since then or only happened for some people at certain times.

PS, I'm checking it on the alternative copy which is how I found the points, bugged me last night.... though it was only for a short time and I don't remember noticing it again throughout both episodes. Of all the things that stood out as meh in the episodes... it was the least important.

Aaah ok, what displays are you guys watching on?

I just watched that desert scene on my galaxy s8 and it goes nuts, going from washed out to super vibrant, that doesn't happen when I watch it on the pc or tv. It's almost like it's broken and causes my phone to switch between hdr/sdr or something like that

The office colour change is still there for me, this is on Netflix watching on an LG Smart TV, I can't see the desert one though...bizarre.

I'm on an LG OLED and i noticed it in the desert and one more time a few minutes later when they were back on the ship, but not after that
