My car seems to have developed an interesting little stutter recently, it only seems to happen when its cold but when i attempt to accelerate in 2nd/3rd, it kind of makes an attempt at accelerating then it feels like i've taken my foot off the accelerator then all of a sudden it'll kick in but it does this a few times until the revs pick up then it seems ok until i then change up a gear.

So it seems to only happen low down in the rev range and when its cold. The spark plugs and oil has been changed within the last 3 months.

This is a bit beyond me so any advice is always welcome :)

Also somebody suggested i get the HT leads changed?

/edit Its a mk3 golf 1.4i 1993 (L)

Sorry i meant the problem in its entirety is a bit beyond me, the HT leads won't be a problem to fit :o

My 206 does this too.

I think it's just a small cold engine thing. Also my lights tend to dip as it chugs back to life. I've also just had all the oil sparks etc changed and the Alternator was replaced and uprated a year ago.

It's just one of those winter things I think.

I'll have to pop up to halfrauds and get some HT's then, hopefully that will sort it, if not i'll just have to hope it doesnt get any worse!

Cheers for the help peeps.

How bad is it for those that have the same problem? Mine almost kicks me forward in the seat as the acceleration drops so suddenly =/

Yes, that's what mine does. It's a killer when pulling out onto a main road and im worried of getting into the habit of not actually coming to a complete stop just in case it happens.

same happens to my impreza. is fine once it has warmed up though

and the heat has dried the connections out. My MG does exacvtly the same thing, I need to replace the HT leads again but some idiot mounted the distribution block thing down the back of the engine with less that 1.5 inches of clearance from the back bulkhead :( PITA to change the leads.

My bet is that blast of WD will make the issue go away in the short term...
