A friend has got an '07 Mondeo ST 2.2 TDCI, and wants to remap it, does anyone have any recommendations? Ive heard of Bluefin and Dreamscience, but are these chips?

I understand a custom map done on rollers is preferable?

not sure on dreamscience but bluefin is a tool you plug in to the diagnostic port and map, you purchase the tool with the map on it so can switch the map between remap and standard as desired.

custom map on the rollers will produce the best results but costs the most.

companies with good reputations are revo/apr/custom-code/angel tuning...that's all i can think of off the top of my head but there will be plenty more

Dreamscience is also a plug and play into obc. Generally cheaper than bluefin and have 5 lives meaning you can use it on 5 cars. Bluefin you have to get reset each time at a cost

On the bluefin site it seems to suggest you can take it off and put it on again as you please? For servicing/warranty etc?

thepharcyde was sayin that not me :D

i dont know anything about the dreamscience.

i know a lot of people who use the bluefin for the servicing/warranty reason but also know a lot of people who get servicing/warranty work done with a remap which have never been caught because of it...even a guy whos dump valve blew and ended up screwing his turbo got his turbo replaced on warranty no questions asked!

Get dreamscience.

Dont think the dreamscience is out yet for the euro4 version of the 2.2. might need to wait a while, the advantage of the dreamscience well for the 220 is that there are 5 different maps based on petrol used/mods i presume similar will be offered for the tdci, as well as the fact you can tweak the map a little/lot to suit your car. something like 30 different factors or something i think i read.

Bluefin works well on the 2.2 TDCi. You will get remaps that give a little more power but the Bluefin map gives a decent improvement whilst retaining driveability. A panel filter is also worth fitting to get a bit more air in.

You won't get more than about 190BHP with a remap on these - mine made 188BHP with Bluefin and a panel filter, but the blocks are good for a fair bit more with turbo and intercooler replacements.
