Hi,
Ive got a couple of questions but i'll start by listing my specs
E6850
Asus PW5 DH Delexue
2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4
MSI 7900GT0
Basically, my motherboard has issues with my ram. It says so in the manual. (I wouldn't have bought the ram if i'd known about the problems). It seems to run at stocks speeds fine though, as does my cpu.
However there are some annoying little niggles I have with my system. My sound seems to crackle every so often. It takes an age to get off the bios screen. I quite often get what I would call 'cpu choking'. While play games I often get stutters and crashes and sometimes vista can be a bit laggy.
I know what this sounds like though. It sounds like my cpu is not clocked right and my ram is being pushed too hard. (And when I underclock everything, CPU @ 2.4ghz and ram at 5300 rather than 6400 most of my problems dissappear, without really a nock in gaming or windows performance, although no solid tests to prove this, apart from the CSS Stress test).
I know though that all this hardware is capable of doing the speeds it is set at. So my question, is it worth ditching my motherboard and getting a Gigabyte DS3? Something that will fully support everything? Hopefully I should get some more stability at the higher clock speeds?
Any got any input?
Many thanks,
Jon
