Okay, having some stability issues with my overclock so have dropped the clocks back a tad. Prime95 runs without errors but SP2004 (which I am sure is based on Prime95?) stops responding and has to be 'end tasked'. Both are run using Large FFT (not at the same time).

When SP2004 stops responding the PC is still running fine, it's only SP2004 that crashes.

Is SP2004 the more trustworthy test or is Prime95 the one to trust?

Sp2004 tests both cores at the same time, So it looks like one core can't handle your overclock, So when you play a cpu intensive multitreaded game you may face instability.

oops never read your specs lol, never mind.

Are you using a beta version of sp2004?

Hehe, the hidden second core? Next year maybe.

Using v0.30 of SP2004. It has never successfully run on my machine. Prime95 is still running now, no errors.

just do prime 95, always seemd to detect errors on me in overclocks, never tried sp2004.

Ignore what i was saying b4 lol

don;t bother with any of them. wander over to the XS forums and the real gangsters there will tell you that SNM is the best tool to use for cpu testing.
http://testmem.nm.ru/snm.zip
try that out. but be warned if your cooling is crap you will break something. iv took this tool to work and blown 1 power supply, 2 motherboards (mosfet overheat) and fried 1 cpu. so 4 machines were put out of commission by snm (3 actually the machine with the busted psu was revived by a new psu.)

LOL, your boss better not be looking :p

Thats some bs stability, what systems are they, all snm does for me is get everything hotter than any other stress tester.

I wont be downloading that then, all I need in the run up to xmas is a major hardware failure, NOT.

I'll run the v0.40 overnight and see how it goes.

I find that S&M gets far hotter, but doesn't do the accuracy of a prime test. With S&M, the only result is a pass or a blue screen/shutdown. With orthos prime (on either single or dual core, I use orthos on my single core opteron) you get more a more accurate test imo.

Old school P95 for me. Orthos locks up on me too even when P95 (dual instances), S&M, 3d06 etc work flawlessly.

Left it running overnight, 8hours 24 minutes without error at 265x11. Ran an hour of rthdribl also without problems this morning too.

Seems that v0.40 works but v0.30 doesn't on my system.

Thanks for all your help guys.

that S&M thing doesn't heat either of my cores up higher than folding 2 instances or dual orthos prime.

just stays at a steady 37c both cores 100% load in all cases.

Am I missing something here? Doesn't he have a 4000+ San Diego which is single core?

No, you didn't miss anything, I'm apparently behind the times as I still run single core. As my rig runs CS:S at around 100fps at 1920x1200 I don't really see the need to upgrade any further.
