I haven't overclocked for a while but when I do, I tend to just increase the FSB in 10mhz increments and boot into Windows and run prime for a few minutes, if it doesn't bomb out after 10 or so minutes, I'll reboot and boost the FSB again, if prime begins to fail, I will increase the CPU voltage until it starts passing again.

This to me is a quick way of finding the limit of the CPU then backing off slightly to get a stable overclock.

Is there any better software now than Prime95 for doing this?

I found intel burn test is very good and takes about 5 mins to run. Then after you are at your desired speed. Run a full 20 runs at say 15mb ram then max available ram.

Then run your prime overnight. some say a bit too much? i say it is guaranteed stability!

Also since ibt takes like 5 mins per run, it means you can get from a - b a lot quicker
