i have been running my PC non-stop for that last few days with no problems at 2.97GHz, when i first got it that high i run orthos for almost 9 hrs and it come out stable. ive been gaming and have had no problems.

today when i went to play counter strike as soon as i loaded into a map it would tunr the PC off and then back on.

any ideas to what could be the problem, it only does it when i run a 3D app.

I'd hazard a guess and say your memory is stretched slightly beyond its limits.

my guess too seeing as how most people just overclock the cpu and then run orthos to test the cpu and completly forget about the ram.

I was going more by his 2GB Crucial Value PC2-5300 running at 850mhz.

I'm not familiar with that memory, but it's a heck of an overclock for value RAM.

I imagine it's due to lack of power, as soon as the GTS starts working your PSU can't supply enough power.
i do need a new PSU, my current one sometimes turns off randomly, even on my old mobo

Agreed. The hotter weather is making your PC overheat and with the build-up of dust it only gets worse.
hotter weather? its been raining where i live  also there is no dust in my PC, all the fans are new and are cleaned daily.

Fool - go to Africa when it's raining and tell me it can't be hot and wet at the same time :p

Seriously, from what you're describing, I would try remounting the heatsink. It's your choice but we can only make suggestions; for the minimal time and effort involved it's at least worth ruling it out.
