Recently done a 4.5 ghz oc with 1.3v core and everything on auto but doesn't seem stable as Games freeze upon startup.

What is the ideal settings for a 4.5/4.6 ghz oc, bear in mind I have 2666mhz ddr4 memory also.

5960x cpu and rampage 5 extreme

This might give you a few pointers. I've got a 4690k and I've noticed that the uncore or on chip cache is harder to overclock than the core itself. You can overclock each separately. There is a specific voltage for uncore but IME vcore makes it stable.

I've got my 4690k @4.5Ghz with 4.0Ghz uncore. Yesterday after I fixed my nagging instability due to RAM with DDR voltage I tried to set the uncore to auto and my mobo settings got completely wiped. I had to set them manually and save.

I definitely think finding a stable core clock with uncore fixed @ default is the way to go. As I mentioned, vcore is the a major factor in stabilizing uncore so expect to need more vcore to stabilize the uncore @ same core clock.

That is a summary if u need any more detail I suggest you google a howto on overclocking your specific chip.
