Weve had to sack a member of staff, is there anyway we can forward the persons email to another account? Were using exchange if it can be done through there? Could obviously log into the account but would rather any new emails sent to them be forwarded onto my account.

Thanks

Yes, yes it can.

Goto:

Active Directory-->Users-->Right click the fired staff member-->Properties-->Exchange General Tab-->Delivery Options--> Forwarding Address.

This can be set to a contact (external) Or a user/group within your Organisation.

Good luck :)

Edit:- If you want to close their mailbox, just add the SMTP aliases from their account to the one you want to forward too.
If not just leave the mailbox open and forward to you. Leave the forward msg's to both mailboxes option unticked so only the
Forwardee recieves the copy and not the original mailbox (redundancy, etc)
If you want a copy of the email in the sacked persons mailbox and yours, tick the box :D

Have a moan love?

Oh I have dear, didn't you notice?

At least you didn't take me overly seriously :D fun and games... :p

Uhm, and I still don't get what 'claimed' is all about, I've just seen it so much that I've developed a tick :(

If you remove the AD account you don't have to delete the mailbox :p

Also, sometimes when people are sacked for dodgy reasons the employer needs evidence for justification.

What you suggested of removing the SMTP aliases from the sacked account and moving them to the new mailbox/group/user would also be fine! (If not a little long winded considering there is a "forward" button pretty much :D)

Other options:

1) Log into the sacked employee's account & grant the users who need access delegate access to the mailbox & then they can access it separately from within Outlook.

2) Add the user accounts that need access to the 'Mail Operators' security group & on the sacked employee's AD user account go to 'Exchange Advanced' tab & select 'Malbox Rights' & grant the 'Mail Operators' group 'Full Mailbox Access'. You can then create a new profile for their Exchange Mailbox via the Mail icon in Control Panel.
