Moning folks

Well, im gonna go back to stalker soon and start over, i cant remember why i originally stopped playing, but im ahcing to get back into it and start over, but ive been out of the loop with stalker stuff so i have some questions.

1)What is the latest version of stalker? and is it fine on vista now?

2)ive seen/heard of some great mods for stalker, which improves fps, adds motion blur and better/high res textures etc, what are the names of these mods?, and do they work with the latest patch?

Any advice on mods/patches/vista issues would be awesome.

Latest patch is the 1.0004 patch. Apparently the game works a lot better in Vista now, with the latest patches, but not having Vista I can't confirm myself.
The mod which changes the lighting and sometimes adds fps in some circumstances is the float32 mod, available at www.thefloatingpoint.org
The texture mod is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Sharper Textures mod.
 
1.004 is the latest patch and they've done a lot to improve FPS in that one. I didn't really notice much difference with float32 mod, and last time i had it installed it wouldn't let me play online because my version was different or something. Uninstalling it seemed to fix it.
