Recently completed Shadow of Chernobyl with the excellent Complete mod and picked up Clear Sky to have a go at the prequel. Having installed the Clear Sky Complete mod, I've been unable to get the game running smoothly on my machine, specs are as follows:

Asus Rampage II Extreme
i7 920 @ 4Ghz
6GB Corsair XMS3 @ 1600Mhz
Asus Xonar D2X
2 x 5870 C/F with 11.1 Catalyst + latest Application Profiles

Granted, I maxed every setting, which makes the game look amazing, but I'm averaging between 30-60 FPS and feel like I should be getting better performance with my setup. Even when I lower the settings to perfectly reasonable levels, it doesn't run smoothly, and maxes GPU usage to 99% on both cards. Anyone else having this kind of trouble? Would be nice to know there are others in the same boat.

P.S was getting 240+FPS on Shadow of Chernobyl Complete with everything maxed.

It was the same for me, SOC ran great and CS required a few things turning down slightly.

I did find that the fps rocketed up after leaving the CS base. I think its something to do with all the cool sun beam effects they used in the first area. I managed to turn most things up after that initial bit.

Yeah, with everything cranked up (bearing in mind iirc CS is demanding anyway without any mods) the fps in the CS base was a struggle even for my old 4870x2.

One thing I will add is that this in fact was the last title I played with the X2, and although I had played through CS+Complete before, this time I installed the newer patched version which might have had something to do with mega corruption. (It was fine before I modded it).

When I found a game a little too taxing I always dropped the AA down first. It's about the only thing I'll concede on when dealing with multiple titles.

I'm pretty much the same, I'll drop AA before I'll drop the other shiny stuff. Then again, if there are too many jagged edges I can't stand it!

CS is the best looking of the three tbh.

^ very useful for getting the best performance or looks or balance.

he does em for most games.

Thanks, Tefal, never thought to check Mr Ghazi's site for a Clear Sky Tweak guide, I'll have a go at this when I get home from college this evening.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions guys!
