Ok, well I decided to not be a wuss and stay behind in Pripyat.
I was wondering if anyone else did this and if it unlocked anymore missions as I had previously completed all of them before the final copter scene.
Even given my precious Oasis to the scientist

apparently though you can find new artefacts, and the savong detector will find artefacts placed in the maps but not in the big anomalies.

So start running round with your detector out and tell us if you find anything cool
