stalker crash in vista

just installed vista (i know, bad move, but got to make the move at some point, need to strecth my 4 gigs of ram's legs)

but its crashes after like 5 mins

i managed to play it in vista business. the game kept kicking me out to the desktop everytime i tried saving. managed to get a fix by googling

I got on fine until I made it to the Scientist area, BSOD's after five minutes play and takes Vista down with it too. Where is that next patch?

i make it to the first guy with the first mission then it just hangs, i can get to task manager and end it, and carry on like normal, but oh well

im sure i read somewhere there was meant to be a new patch this month however i couldnt find it. 10003 is the latest.
