I've begun playing STALKER and am liking it quite a lot so far. It has some annoying bugs (not being able to drop items especially) and now I have come across a major flaw...

I'm experiencing the game crashing at random intervals. *** screen will switch to vertical green lines for a few seconds then force my system to reboot.

At first I thought my card was faulty and maybe overheating due to the high temperature in my room. And I haven't ruled this possibility out whatsoever. But I have tried out other games and no issues so far.

Anyone have anything useful to assist me with?

I'm using patch 1.0005 and my specs are in my sig.

These are features the developers added to the game to stop ingame boredom.:(
 
I recently discovered how to drop items. On the inventory screen, just right click on an item to bring up a little menu for it, which includes drop.

This was as much of an "ahaaa!" moment as getting to level 38 out of 40 on flash portal before finding out that you could press f to pick up things...

I had this problem..

Try installing the float32mod.

This may already be integrated into latest patch but it's worth a go anyway.

There's also a 1.0006 fix on gamespot, which says it fixes game crash problems.

Make sure you are using lastest video drivers too.

Thanks for that, I will look into the mod tomorrow. :)

I read the patch noted for 1.0006 on another site and it said it only fixed internet issues?

I have the hotfix for 4800 series Catalyst drivers, they should be recent enough right?

I know how to drop items via the inventory, I meant that I have a bug where over 50% of the time they refuse to drop! :mad:

Moving them to other slots in the inventory can help; if it's a weapon then equipping it will always allow it to be dropped. This is a ****** workaround though, and shouldn't be an issue after so much time after release.

Catalyst 8.7's are the latest, not long come out.

If your only playing single player, then you just need to patch to 1.0004, as 5 and 6 are just multiplayer fixes.
