Chaps I formatted and forgot to back up my game save files . Is there anywhere where i can get one to save 10 hours of game play again ?

Say what ?! Stalker is awesome, ok it may not be to everyones tastes; but it has a good engine (x-ray), good story, good ai and lots of top mods, e.g.Faiakes.

Stalkers a cracking game, playing it now with the Flot32 mod, and the stalker skies mod.

Stalker is easily in my top 10 best games ever. It has lots of flaws and bugs, but the underlying concept and artistic direction of the games is something unique and wonderful.

I really loved stalker, unfortunatly i was using one saved game file all the way through, happened to get trapped in a room due to a bug, and the game was saved in there 
I can't be bothered to sit through hours and hours of all the beginning stuff again! The last thing i remember was being in a huge room with a spiral staircase. With weird sounds that made the screen shake If someone could sort me out with a saved game file around there, that would be much appreciated!

thinking about buying this off steam now, will it come fully updated so i dont have the problems with vista? Plus can you use mods in it?

The Steam version will have the most recent patch already in the downloaded game files, I would have thought.
Mods should also work the same, the good thing is that you put all mods in the 'gamedata' folder, which you have to create, so you can play around with the files in it to your hearts content, and not worry about overwriting any other files.

I really can't get into stalker, I do the first mission, get a 2nd one at the same guy, and then for the 2nd checkpoint iirc I dunno where to go anymore. also some people randomly start shooting @ me, I just don't know where to go, how, and why people shoot me, I like freedom but I like a more guided story like in GTA, no way you can get lost there for example.

The bandits will be the ones shooting you, and the soldiers (at the bridge etc...)
Just do the missions from the trader etc..., thats what im doing, and the game opens up, also if you have been to the garbage, through the hangar takes you to the Institute (where the bandits keep attacking the hangar from), and to get past the Duty guys who keep telling you to buzz off (which i found out), is, once you get the documents from the Institue to take to the barkeep beyond Duty, when he keeps telling you to buzz off, you just walk up to the gates and open them anyway, just watch out as once you go through the gates they will start shooting you, even though you never touched them, but once you get to the next zone, the Duty lot in there won't touch you so you can continue.
