Hey,
After reading about all the mods available I thought I'd give one a go. I've downloaded the latest official patches 1.05 and then grabbed hold of this :

If you scoll further down the screen you get to the installation instructions. I've done all apart from the second instruction. It tells you to copy game data folder to main directory, but which? There are a fair few of them. Has anyone used this mod and if so could they please help?

Just the main folder. I.e. C:\Program Files\Stalker

or whatever it is called. Don't worry about which folder inside the Stalker one. For me it is:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl
 
Sound like a good mod that, some of the one's I was using plus a few more, I think I'll give it a try.

I need to start playing Stalker some more, I never finished it.

Well, think I've done it right? Even so, doesn't appear much different. Been a while since I've played but I'd say some textures look a little better, some worse, just my opinion on the style used. Still, nice to have a roam around again. Can't wait till they release the next in the series.
 
Yea, mods in Stalker are really easy, drop in the gamedata folder, edit one line in the fsgame file and you're done :)
 
I <3 stalker. I really must play through both the games again. By far the best FPS seiries I've ever played.

Maybe I'll play them with mods next time too.
 
I too will have to dig this out again and play through it with some mods - I got as far as Pripryat last time and got bored of all the running back and forth for hours, I was only using the vanilla game though no mods at all.
 
Yeah, think I've got it working ok. I'm seeing better skies, everything's better. Really noticed it when I got close to a mutant and it was staring at me. Better model definition. This time I'm just roaming around to get as much decent kit, having a really good look around. Best game for me since Deus Ex.
 
:( I don't get this.

I've just reinstalled Stalker SoC, installed the patch but the game wont run (no mods installed at this stage).
It just hangs at the splash screen.

I'm running 9.3 cats, all other drivers are up to date, Vista x64.

Any ideas?
 
Nope, completely fresh install. It's not even making it into the game main menu.

It used to work on this pc, I don't know what's changed.

I had to re-install as I had the same problem. What patch are you using because my game unpatched and 1.08 would not load. Patching to 1.07 works fine with 9.3's. I still get corruption when it rains.

I am at work so I can't see what mod pack in the link - is it a graphics only mod. I am using Clear Sky Enhanced 2 which is pure gameplay mod. I have to figure out how to get a inventory weight mod working with it. I also desperately need a mod that re-skins all the weapons. Clear sky is a great looking game but has the ugliest weapon textures when in iron sight view.
 
Im only using the 1.0000000000000000000000005 patch, didn't know there was more (this is Shadow I'm talking about)

Last time I played was on Vista x64 like I'm running now.

I've tried reinstalling a couple of times, but it hasn't worked so far.
 
Try reinstalling it with different drivers. Try 8.12 and do this before you download any patches even if they are official, like off THQ's webby.
