Stalker mods. Advice and comments for a second run at it.

I've done some upgrading and I'm going to get myself back into Stalker. I had all kinds of problems with it before.. machine being generally underpowered, graphics overheating.

I've got this running at stock at the moment.

e8200
8800 GT 512
4gb ram

I'm hoping some of you guys will have an idea of how it will run now, and what kind of mods I should be looking at getting.

It will run the game perfectly! My brother has a similar card and it runs very nice and smoothly. Its not as poorly optimised as people may have you believe. The best mod is definately the oblivion lost mod. People have mentioned it in threads around the forum but heres a link to the official forum post: (download link is at the bottom)

Its genuinely harder in places when it comes to fighting the enemy and definitely an all round scarier experience (they made night time darker somehow!) I suggest you try it out without me listing all the new stuff in it.

Get the latest patches and you should be fine. My brothers has only crashed once in about 4-5 hours of gameplay.

Awesome. I battled on with an old 19xx card and a single core AMD previously, and I still managed to enjoy it. I don't mind it being harder, that's for sure.
