Could someone please link me to a mod which makes the guns in STALKER more powerful?
I mean like taking less than 8 hits to actually kill someone....

theres no need to make the guns more powerful, try to get headshots ...

but if you really what to look for that kind of mod try the oblivion-lost forums, they have a good modding section.

Well seeing as last night I saw a soldier without a helmt survive a direct hit in the head from an AK 47 I would say that there is something wrong - a headshot should be an insta kill with ANY game - even a pistol
thanks for the forum link

Stop thinking STALKER is the same as CS .... lol!

To be honest, a kill with an AK74 (5.56mm round) *SHOULD* probably be a kill, but bear in mind this round is the same as whats fired today in that gun, and STALKER is 20+ years in the future - maybe a decent helmet has been invented by then?

Try using armour piercing rounds from the silenced assault rifle or G-37, see how many of those it takes to drop a guy (presuming you're that far into the game)

I usually find a quick burst aimed at upper chest/neck region drops them nicely - first round stuns, second and third often hit the head causing a crupled flop to the floor.

Failing that, lob 'nades a la rambo and charge in with the .45APC pistol and sort em ;)

Is it just me, or are the guns stupidly inaccurate?
I have never fired a real gun (apart from air rifles etc) so don't really know if it is true to life or not - it seems that even crouching, firing in single shot mode, with iron sights, very very slowy it is difficult to hit anything for than a few metres away. Even when you do hit them with 1 bullet they run off, because the one bullet meant for their head has actually hit their leg and not done diddly squat

There is a skill lvl in the game. Depending on your rank as a stalker afaik. As you get better ranks your accuracy becomes better.

Try getting the modded fast shooting ak47 if you want a poweful weapon early on and strap the nade launcher and scope to it. Later on you will be able to get some decent weapons like the g37, tunder and the vintar BC.

The only thing that bugs me is that you can't strap the nade launcher or silencer to the g37 but i guess thats for balancing issues and to make the M4 a more universal weapon as it can use all upgrades.

If anyone says the Vintar BC is a weak weapon or the Tunder at close range seriously needs some L2P :P

Aye, once you build up to the bigger, better guns and uprated ammo it's a much easier task - and some of the scoped rifles are a doddle to take people out with one shot.

Love the pistol as well, just reel off a clip into someone and they're down. Does get better the more you use the weapons and the more deaths you deal!

Doh - I had read the above post wrong, though he'd said headshot *WITH* helmet not without.

However, given some of the "accurate" things in stalker which I've not seen in other games (guns jamming, different radius grenades etc) it could be an attempt at a 'glancing blow' kind of shot.

Must admit though, I do tend to be a bit gun-happy - if this is how you increase accuracy, no wonder im a crackshot now!!

I have the accuracy mod which limits the factors so the accuracy is only affected by each weapon's properties (accuracy, range and firing rate...etc). It should make life easier but still keep things resonably realistic. I havn't tried it though.

As said as you progress through the game you will get some really nice weapons which make shootings a lot easier, you may want to remove the mod then.

I'll try to find the link or gimme an email and I'll forward it to you, if your email is not already in trust that is :)
