Stalker problem (on steam)

Hi. I've got myself Stalker through Steam, but have a few problems thats stopping me from playing.

Firstly, the settings applied are not saved after I exit and restart.
Secondly save games are not registering

Every time I launch the game I have to reconfigure settings and start from new.

After searching google all I could find was to disable UAC. Already disabled, and to check I have permissions to the stalker folder. Things is I can't find a stalker folder in documents, or public documents.

Any other users on Vista/Steam have the game working properly?

I can't help with the problem im afraid, but you may find the Stalker folder inside Valve > Steam > Common, as thats where the Stalker Clear Sky folder is kept, so its worth a look, i just can't say for sure as i got the orignal Stalker retail, but if Clear Skys there through Steam, then it could be there as well if its not in your Documents.
