I want to play through the story modes of STALKER series again (in order).

I'm so underwhelmed and frustrated with STALKER and all of the mods. I've wasted the last week or so trying to find decent mods to play through the stalker games and all I've found is just pure disappointment. I'm half inclined just to play through the vanilla games because there is so much conflicting and ******** information online about the games and the mods. I have no idea where to even start..... When I first played STALKER 10 years ago everything was a lot more straight forward..... Now... wtf...

Does anyone have any suggestions to where I can find some decent information on mods to install? Or even any suggestions? I'm finding it difficult to find up-to-date and/or reliable information on the latest ENGLISH STALKER mods.

Do you want to play a polished/visual overhaul of the original games or something a bit more ambitious? Moddb and Nexus are good places to seek out some of the best mods but I can understand the confusion; they seem to be continually expanding like the very zone itself.

I don't know how much it will help but I have done some mod test/installation guides in the past; you're welcome to take a look and see if anything there appeals to you/helps you decide: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpjJkR6CPffgbxhdqeB_sHQWEL6-vKlX0

Ah the Nexus! I'll have to check the nexus out as I've been through a lot of moddb...

Thanks for the vid, I'm not too bothered about the visuals, I'm looking for enhanced gameplay that also supports story.

Will check anomaly out, heard it mentioned a few times. Thanks for the youtube link arc, it was just the sort of info I was looking for!

You're welcome. There are lots of mods I've yet to play or have played but haven't done videos on, however, there are few well-known ones in that playlist. I'm also currently doing a lengthy Anomaly series, and although edited ruthlessly at times, you can at least get to see if that sort of gameplay is for you. It is a slow burner type of mod, though (especially the way I play). :)

I know the complete mods are outdated now, but if you're considering just playing vanilla then complete modded is worth a go as it doesn't change the gameplay too much, but fixes some bugs and makes the gfx better. I played through all using the complete mod and loved it. There might be a new all in one type mod that someone could suggest.

The misery mod is great if you want a more hardcore gaming experience. Probably one to try after completing them all vanilla/complete mod. It uses the autumn arora mod, so you can select which preset you want to use. I find the autum or green summer presets are good, but the misery preset is a bit too dark and depressing.
