Just installed a few mods from the starter pack on this, nothing too dramatic, just some texture packs and tweaks. However when I launch the game none of my in game video settings are saved...

It keeps launching in a low res even though I keep changing it to 1920x1080, and in the options menu all the sliders and options are back to default... WHY WON'T YOU WORK?!

Can anyone help?
 
I'll have a look at those mods on moddb (links would be good :)). I've used Absolute Nature before, not so sure about zone reclamation or shaders, though.

I seem to recall similar in game symptoms as the one you've described, though it was eons ago, and I can't even recall how I fixed it.

Game play itself is ok, right?

No crashing, it just wont change/save the options... ill get the links asap

Cheers. It appears it also deletes saves/doesn't save, re-loaded the game and no save was there. I noticed some log-looking red text when i quit the game, like an error or something. Definitely the mods playing up!
 
As far as I know, the Absolute Nature 'probably' won't be the cause. I've not used Zone Reclamation / Absolute Structures, so I can't comment on those to be fair.

I may try out these mods over the weekend, as I already have SoC installed.
 
It's not at that uncommon for me to make a mistake when modding games, whether they be Stalker or not. These days, I often use the first attempt to get familiar with things anyway, and then aim to 'cross the t's and dot the i's' for the final installation. Post some screen shots when you get there. :)

Haven't had a single mod even on my system since last night. Vanilla is straight off Steam so I guess it's auto-patched?

Anyway whatever this is, it wasn't happening before!
 
Yeah, Steam uses 1.0005 so it will be patched.

I've had quite a few problems sorted out by the GSC forum. It's worth posting a question, and could save you a lot of time.


I suppose it's worth defragging the game / verify the game cache in Steam.

Ah yeah sorry, forgot about that place! I'll post now.

It's something to do with how the game reads the user file I think. It's not on read only, and I've set up the correct settings in there and saved them, and the game just 'ignores' it. (Doesn't change the settings in the file either)
