stalker..was there ever a demo???

hi people,
havent been on the pc scene for a while, too busy playing vegas on 360 (go on...slap me if u want!) but was wondering if stalker ever had a demo out? it seems cheap enough to take a gamble on it being decent but im not that much of a gambling man...so would like to try a demo first.

any ideas, links appreciated.

I believe there was a multiplayer beta that was referred to incorrectly as a demo in certain circles.
