Got STALKER last night.

Makes an excellent coaster - won't get past loading splash screen without xray engine error report box (which, incidently, doesn't work either.)

To say I'm unimpressed would be a gross understatement.

Any Ideas Please?

System spec as follows:

FX 60 @ 3.2Ghz
Asetek WC Xtreme
Asus A8N SLi Premium
2GB Corsair XMS 4000 Pro
2 X WD Raptor RAID 0
Gainward Bliss 8800GTX
Dell E207WFP 20" Widescreen (1680 X 1050 @ 60Hz)
Creative X-Fi Platinum
Vista Home Premium 64

Cheers

a stab in the dark but perhaps better than nowt i dare say..

goto:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-SHOC
edit with notepad:
user.ltx
search for:
rs_refresh_60hz
and set it to off.

fingers crossed..

STALKER doesnt currently support Vista. Not until they release a patch anywho.

I've got it running on mine though, have you tried running it in compatability mode?

Perhaps installing DX9 might help ? :)
I hear people are getting better frame rates on some games when they have this installed.

I personally haven't got vista yet, so it's just a thought and not a guarantee.

I was actually thinking about getting Vista at the end of the month but I might have to have a rethink, as I'm currently enjoying STALKER.
I hope you get it working as it's a good game :)

I donb't think Vista can do all the dx9.c effects like HDR, so you may notice some graphics options faded out and an extra 150fps :D

*******UPDATED*******

Runs with everything - not greyed out.

Although is runs like a bag of crap. No Matter what setting, it stutters and the mouse behaves erratically.

Pretty sure my rig should run it no problem (see OP)

What a bloody joke - theres people all over the place slagging off Vista after a 5 year development. lol thought after all the hype surrounding this game they might have actually made sure it worked before releasing it after a 5 year period of B.S. and failed release dates!!!

Best laugh of all is when I tried to submit the in engine bug report, the bug reporting tool ITSELF CRASHED!!!!!! I almost wet myself....oh the irony....

Anyway.... partying tonight so I'm damned if i'm letting some dumb game ruin my weekend - I've waited 5 years for it so another year for them to write a patch won't hurt I suppose - LMAO!!!
