Hello

I got stalker the other day, and i was wondering how on earth did they code this. My system is a 2.4 dual core - 2gb - 8800 gts 640 etc and i just into the tunnels where you have to find the stash and the fps is 30 fps at 1440x900.

Any one else got slow downs with this game?

i can run it at max fine at 20-30 fps until the lightning starts then it drops to 0 for a second during the flash, it ran ok the rest of the time. i can counter the lightning problem by having my flashlight/nightvision turned on during the storm.

I run the game at 1680x1050, everything maxed out and with full dynamic lighting and I get a stable 40-60fps all the time. Only at the very begginging of the game It slows down when its caching the level or what ever.

Are you patched to the latest patch? Their next patch will be introducing more Dual Core optimisations hoepfully.

p.s. Sorry about any spelling mistakes, just got back from the pub :p

yeah its fully patched. Dont know why it runs like this, i have done some reading and i can see some have no issues and others are having some bad issue with the fps

there are lots a little things you can do to improve performance

Tweakguides

the most important one is float32 which improves performance substantially

I hate that you even have to do this. The point is my machine should be running this game fine, why on earth should i be tweaking it to work. You wouldn't get this on a console

i run everything on full on 1680x1050 with 8800gts 640 and runs perfectly, the odd little jump (mainly in the warehouse area) but besides that no faults at all

Few tips, you might want to turn down the view distance slider to around 50%. It won't affect you at all as there are so many trees and hills in the game, and it'll improve your FPS by quite a bit. You might also want to turn down AA just in case.

Thats what i've done and runs perfectly smooth.
