Such a shame, but considering his age not surprising. But wow what a creative mind he had. All those characters, backstories etc, few people can do that in such a wide spread popularity.
I read a lot of Marvel comics when I was a kid and have to say I loved them and had a huge respect for Stan Lee he was god as far as I was concerned. His characters always seemed more "real" than any of the rival comics companies offerings. He also would write inserts or footnotes here and there often comic and ironic often poking gentle fun at his characters or even breaking the 4th wall a little. It was another sign there was someone in charge who was fully aware of the consequences of what he and his band of artists were creating. Huge respect to the man.
