Stand Alone Blu Ray player VS PS3

Hi all

I have a 720i HD TV and was thinking Blu Ray players sell for £250+ on ebay and you can get a PS3 for £300.

My quesion is why would you buy a stand alone Blu Ray player over a PS3 which is a games console and a Blu Ray player
