Stand alone modem or best router/modem combo

Hi all,

We live in an absurdly large house (given for work purposes) and our current setup isn’t up to scratch (three floors, large walls etc).

We need strong wi fi for work, gaming and streaming. I was looking at the Asus AX11000 pro, however I understand this does t come with a modem.

Could someone either recommend a modem to pair with it or alternatively a good router/modem combo?

With thanks,

James

The only modem I have is in my BT Smart Hub 2 but unfortunately you can't use it as a modem alone.
There should be bridge mode which allows it to function like a modem.

If you really want a different modem, assuming it's FTTC, either the old Huawei HG612 or if you want brand new, Draytek Vigor 130... although I think the Vigor 166/167 has replaced this now?

As for WiFi coverage, seeing as it's 3 floors with large walls there's a good chance one router won't be enough. You may be better off running cables to each floor then having dedicated access points, this will give you much better coverage. If that's not possible, then go mesh.
