Hi,

Just got a GTS 250 (Asus ENGTS250/DI/512MD3/A) to test out as a PhysX card along with my 5870. I'm having a problem with the card though. I can run PhysX on it & it works flawlessly but the fan seems to be stuck at 100%. Its extremely loud & I've had to remove the card for now as its too overpowering. I cant find any option in the nVidia control panel to change the speed of it & the Asus utility (Smart Doctor?) couldn't find the card (I assumed because it wasn't the main card in the system & has no monitor connected to it).

Could it be a problem with the card itself? It kicks in like a jet engine as soon as I turn the PC on. Could it be a BIOS issue with my MOBO? I'm not really sure whats going on...

Is it one of the cards with the Glaciator cooler? If so then I don't think you can change the speed on those, at least you couldn't with my old Asus 8800gt.

Yes it does have the Glaciator cooler.

Its seriously stuck at that level? Wow. I'm gonna have to send it back then. There's no way that that's an acceptable amount of noise...

I'll try Afterburner any way just to make sure.

What I did (if anyones interested) was to put an old Zalman cooler that I had on an old 7900gt onto the 250 & connect it to a fan header on the mobo. I used speedfan to control the fan speed & it seems to be working ok. Idling at about 45c without adding any noticeable noise & PhysX is now usable for all the good it's worth...
