Heya,

Is there a decent free (or just a couple of quid) Character Creator app?
Friend wants something for her D&D groups, so needs to be fantasy-based.

She's looking for something a bit like the Skyrim or Black Desert (no longer available, apparently) sort of thing, but a standalone exe like the Dragon Age: Origins one... About as simple as the sliders and picklists, but more detailed, where you have a range of options and tweaks to face, body and clothing... ideally able to churn out pictures, too.

She has a PC, but doesn't even have a Steam account (yet).

Is there anything like that?

I don't know of any standalone apps but you can generally get Skyrim for a couple of quid when it's on sale...

May not be what you want, but Eve online has one of the best char creators. Can get a free trail aswell.

It's a shame that Black Desert's character creator seems to have been taken down, as it's exactly what you're looking for and one of the best examples out there. Maybe see if you can track it down somewhere, given it was released for free. I'm sure somebody must have archived it.

DazStudio maybe
I tried MakeHuman - It was a proper pain in the bum, that one and somewhat limiting.
ePic was kinda naff, too.

Fuse is the best so far - Did alright with just the basic package and am looking to see if there's more poses, Fantasy outfits and stuff. Really like how you can upload to the server and animate the models.

I really like the look of DazStudio, but I think that is a bit complex and complicated for her needs...

I've since found a couple of possible sources - They say they require an account creation and that they must connect to the BDO servers, which might mean they no longer work... will have to see.

Also concerned that Classes are gender-restricted, which might be a deal breaker for her.
