Have a stand alone computer that i want to connect to a computer on my domain via crosover, with out joining it to the domain.

the standalone pc in WINNT the domain pc 2k

have set static ips on both but am geusing that it ignores the other because it is this on the domain.

any idears how i can do this?

you mention crossover. has the domain pc got 2 network cards then? one connecting to the main network and one connected to the NT pc?

Surely if there is a main network it'd be easier to connect it to that rather then to the DC directly?

i don't think he want's to connect it to a dc? no mention of that. but i agree, i'd just connect it to the main network. would be easier all round. :)

there is 2 network cards in both pc`s as on the standalone pc its connceted to a piece of machienary through it. with a crossover running between the two pc`s.

your right it would be easier to join it to the domain but this causes other complications with e machien it is connected to

i think we both mean connect it to the network physically. you don't actually have to "add it" to the domain. as long as it has a valid ip address it can still talk to other pcs even if if it's not a "member". :)
