Hello all, after a trip down memory lane i am keen to get myself a record player. i am after a standalone as in not hook up to external speakers, but also after something that sounds half decent.

any recommendations, ideally under £300, but not a deal breaker

While audio can be quite subjective in terms of what different people feel is quality, I think you're going to struggle to find an all in one unit that fits the bill.

Is it a case of not wanting the faff of amps etc? If so you could pair something like the Audio Technica AT-LP60X with some nice active options from the likes of Edifier and come in under budget, in fact I've seen a couple of bundle deals knocking around.

There's always the vintage route with one of those old carry case style setups? I bought a refurbished one some years ago for an older relative who was on a bit of a nostalgia trip and it was a nice bit of kit.

The last time I remember seeing a full all in one with a record deck was some kind of boombox and probably back in the 80s.
You’d be hard pressed to find one now.
It’s worth being aware that record decks don’t really like being shaken around, as some of that vibration will eventually end up influencing the interaction between the record and the diamond that is used to read it.

As Grey suggests, much better to separate, at least into record decks/active speakers

I think your best option would be something like this where it has BT built in and can then connect to any BT enabled speakers so you don't have too much bulk/space limiting issues.

Like This? I remember these being sold in the high street shops back in the day when I was a teenager.
