Just wondering what’s the standard dashboard display colour of your car?

I’m doing a car pc front end for my dissertation; need to have it as professional as possible, so I decided to see what original car makers are putting into their cars!

Don’t want to have a bright orange front end on my hands!!

So what colour is your dashboard and audio equipment lights? If a poll could be made it would be great!

Thanks :D

Dad's accord is a really nice red, its got a cool fade in and out feature as well, when you unlock the door at night the dials light up really faded red, then when you put the key in they glow brighter then when you turn the car off the fade out.

Clio is Orange

MX5 is Green.

white dials with orange glow, orange fuel/temp indicators, orange heating controls and orange clock ;)

Wouldnt want an orange PC display in there as well tho, would probably prefer subtle darker blues/greys/blacks tbh...

White dials with green glow, bizarrely standard on a '91 Nissan Micra S.

I'm sure the S stands for Skyline :D

As I'm writing a CarPC frontend myself, I'll give you a tip - don't even think of mentioning you're writing on on the Digital-Car or MP3Car forums until it's finished. They're like a pack of hyenas who have been shown a slice of meat, they'll keep attacking you until they get it!

Anyway, to really impress both uni markers and the community if you decide to release it - make it fully skinnable. This way there can be multiple colour schemes and layouts for different cars. This should get you a few more marks.

However, don't think that it'll be easy! There's a lot more to it than just a pretty front screen (which can be knocked up in Photoshop in a little amount of time), it's the behind the scenes technology, infrastructure and content that'll win you the marks.

So tru, everyone is hunting for AIMEE!

I have been looking at making a skinabble VB aplication, shame they dont use CSS!

Looks like the main colours are red, green, white, orange, and some cases blue.

I would make it skinnable, but only in terms of colour, its dangerous having to learn new layouts in the car environment.

Trying to make mine very simple, and useable, i dont like RR becuase i find it complex, its not for your average blond bimbo!

Once i finnish it, i'll give you guys a test run, see how you like it, think i am going to be hardcore coding for two weeks!

Its goinging to feature media player, custom FTP or winsock's, gps, hopefully phone control, and a few other tricks up my sleeve!
