Bit of advice if possible?

My laptop has recently had a significant drop in game performance leaving me a bit baffled.

Ive done most of the basic things; check for spyware/virus, defragged, disk cleanup, i have also uninstalled a few things to get the HDD space backup (its at about 60% used of a 140Gb drive).

Still to no avail, so now im thinking it could be temperatures... so if anyone in the know can advise, are the following temps at 'idle' abnormally high? If so, I assume they can cause a problem when I am trying to game as they would be pushed higher.

Intel C2D P7450 2.13Ghz
Core 1 - 56c
Core 2 - 55c

NvIDIA 9600M GT
59c - had been at 65c idle, but has recently dropped.

All advice appreciated, the laptop was running fine pre-christmas, but since then its bottomed out a bit. Might chuck it back at Acer if the fans are struggling.

Temps look fair, run Prime to check full load temps and see if the fan comes on.
Run HD Tack or tune to check hard drive performance.

Laptop cpu's tend to have a higher thermal spec than desktop counter parts.
