Good early morning

I was just curious to know what the standard warranty length is for graphics cards these days. I have a 5850 bought from ocuk in march 2010 and i might be looking to sell it on shortly but i cant seem to find out anywhere how long the warranty might be on the card. Im guessing maybe around 2 years but im not to sure

Any ideas guys?

cheers

Liam

Good early morning to you as well lol.

Its usually a year with OcuK and then the rest is dependant on the manufacturer so it
depends on who made the card and stuff but I wouldn't think it would be long over
a year if at all to be honest.

BTW, Sapphire offer 2 years with this card i believe, dont know about the rest.

Im glad im not the only early riser :D not through choice of course! Thanks for that mate, its a reference Asus card that i have so maybe i'll have another look round there site and see if i can find anything

no problem, its pretty good rma too, if you send it back to asus direct they will give you a 7950 or simmler (it goes on price you paid not price its worth now)

Really? surley they wouldn't give me a 7950 though more like a 6950? Mind you I did pay £230 for this card from ocuk in march 2010

I'm not sure about ASUS graphics card RMA specifically, but with graphics card replacements companies almost always offer you a current generation card that performs the same or better than the one that broke.

Based on that I would expect them to send you a HD 6870, if you get a faster card than this (HD 6950/6970) then you have done rather well. If they try and send you a HD 6850 then you could challenge it, as it is a bit slower than the 5850.

You probably won't get one of the HD 7000 cards as the cheaper cards haven't been released yet (the 7950 retails for £340+) and it would be in their interest to unload an older tech HD 6000 series card instead of a rarer (and more sought after) new-tech card.
