Hi guys...

Basically, I use my laptop to charge a variety of USB devices nearly constantly such as iPod's, PS3 Controllers and various other USB devices... but i'v been having to leave my computer on... to save power, i'v been putting the lappy into low performance state (settings on power section) and so on...

Is there any way that I can turn off the lappy while leaving power to USB? It just needs to charge, not sync or anything else.. just need some power :)

Thanks in advance for all replies.

You're out of luck there I'm afraid. How about getting a cheap powered USB hub to charge things overnight?

Its always a possibility. I just wanted a cheaper option :)...

and to the comment above... its more about power consumption. I can charge the laptop from time to time as it is not moved much. Its more that it is practically being wasted to just charge items. Plus... it gets to high temps quite often so the fan is constantly on... and constantly pestering me.

Thanks though... i'll check out a USB power supply

might be worth trying a mobile phone shop....daft as it sounds.

I was looking for a new charger for my Motorola cos my old one had died and I had spotted a USB Mains charger that had a female USB socket on it (company called Nexus make it) in my local Jag Phones shop.

Don't know whether it would work with a USB hub and provide power to the hub for charging multiple devices though - I mean it didn't even recognise my phone which uses micro USB as the main charging point!!

Okay, i'll check it out... i'v got a iPod phone charger which I can use for the iPhone... but it doesn't charge anything else... In my family, i'v got a iPhone, 2 iPod Touchs and 1 Nano... and then PS3 controllers on top of that... the batteries on the touch's are pathetic... and at the mo, we only have one laptop to use... Other ones in for repairs :|
