I am in the middle of building an office on the side of my garage. Looking to purchase a standing desk as I find I'm spending far to long sat down these days. Have had a look at what desks are on offer, the prices for these type of desks vary wildly so just after some advice or recommendations from people who already own height adjustable standing desks.

Would like something electronically adjustable and sturdy so it doesn't wobble round if I lean on it now and again. Size wise, approx. 160cm wide and 60cm deep.

You are going to need a 4 legged desk then.... 2 legged desks will wobble to some extent when raised up, it's just how they are due to design.

I have a 2 legged one but it doesnt concern me. I prefer having no table leg at the front as it feels more open and easier to get in and out (limited room behind me due to wall)

I was looking at those recently and will be again tomorrow at Ikea.

I'm no expert on these desks but they did look pretty decent, sturdy and electrically controlled.

Thanks. I was initially set on the Vernal Executive Standing Desk, which is enclosed so would be very sturdy. I just cant stomach the price of it, and cant find any similar designs anywhere else.

The vernal core3 has two legs but the marketing says its very sturdy. I know you usually get what you pay for, but the core3 is over double the price of ones that look similar.

Let us know what you end up buying, as I'm considering one too, especially for when I WFH.

TBH the enclosed Executive Desk looks like it is just their 2 legged desk with some fancy coverings so will have some wobble if pressed hard enough.

Something LIKE THIS is what you would be looking to get if you want a rock solid standing desk i.e. 4 legs

Got a magnus xl Pro here. It's fine at height, I wouldn't call it wobbly.

Yeah, I have the Magnus Pro. Bought it about 3 months ago and really like it. Lots of reports of wobble but, TBH, I find a lot of the complaints coming from people who are just anally-retentive and expect perfection without thinking about basic physics. Does it wobble at full height? Yes, if you make it wobble by pushing on it with the sole intention of trying to make it wobble.
Does it wobble in normal use? Nope

I only went for the standard Magnus due to space restrictions in the room but, TBH, its plenty big enough for me (27" monitor) and that is with the tower sitting on the desk as well. If I slung it under the desk, using the Secret Lab PC Mount), I could easily get another 27" mintor on there with room at both sides for speakers etc.

EDIT: I should add - the cable management is brilliant on this desk as well... You see practically zero cables unless you use a wired mouse/keyboard and a little on the speakers if you use wired speakers.

What's the difference between standard Magnus and XL Pro? I'm assuming just size?

It's a bit wider and deeper iirc. I went with the pc mount and riser as well. Probably got hit with the gamer tax buying it but its a nice product. Packaging is superb.

Ahh that PC mount would also be excellent. Though looking at the photo of the mount, I'm sure it's stable and secure, but it still worries me having a heavy PC float like that

Flexispot are worth a look, can't say I've had any issues and you can get different sized tops if you need to up / down size your desk later.

I've got a Flexispot one and it's been fantastic now for ~3years. Would happily buy another if i needed to.

I just got the legs and then used a top of my own choosing as it's adjustable in width. Only 2 legs and it perhaps wobbles a bit if i lean on it, but it's never felt unsteady.
